GRANT VARSITY CHEER

GRANT JV CHEER

COACHING STAFF

Coach Lo

head coach / Program director

Laura Coyier, is an Oregon native with over 15 years of cheerleading experience + 6 years of high school coaching. She was a member of the Oregon State University Varsity/Travel Cheer team for two years and captain of the Dance Team at Portland State University before graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. Her coaching journey began at Jesuit HS. From there, she realized her passion was in coaching after two years leading the Southridge HS cheer program and Beaverton HS to follow. In 2019 after a much needed coaching sabbatical, Coach Lo landed at Grant HS. Since then, the program has grown 6x in student-athlete participation which grew from 6 to 30+ members by 2024 with both JV and Varsity teams. Grant will be competing for the first time in over a decade in 2024-25 and we couldn't be more excited!!

Dedicated to helping students identify and reach their dreams as student-athletes!

Coach Lisa

varsity assistant

With a passion for cheerleading ignited in 8th grade, I quickly became competitive and made varsity as a freshman, serving as a main flyer throughout my high school career. My team won state championships in 2006 and 2009, and I was the only student from my school to receive an all-state medal, showcasing a routine I choreographed myself. After high school, I continued my cheer journey at OSU, where I proudly cheered for two years on the black squad. Now, I’m thrilled to pass on my cheer knowledge and experience to the next generation of athletes.

Coach Cap

head JV coach

As a little girl, I had no clue what I wanted to do. Art was my passion but my parents wanted me to get active. Little did they know, they would be introducing me to my new passion. I became an all-star cheerleader at the age of 6, and stuck with it ever since. I performed in many different positions as I grew over the years. Come high school I was tall and stayed in my position as a back base on my all-star team as well as the Grant High School cheer team for the four years I was on Varsity. In high school I found my love for coaching when I was brought on by the Grant Youth Cheer program as an assistant coach. After High school I conitinued on to become a Portland State University cheerleader until transfering to a school in California that did not have a cheer team. Over the 6 years that I was without cheer, I thought about it often and knew I missed it. In the midst of me moving back to Portland, the position with the Grant High School cheer team sort of fell into my lap. I am now in my second year of coaching and my heart is more full than ever!
