Basketball (Boys)

2023 Try-Out Information

Hello Generals Community,

Winter Sports are set to begin on Monday November 13th, 2023.  During the winter season, we offer Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Boys Wrestling, Girls Wrestling, Girls Swimming, and Boys Swimming. 

In order to be able to participate in practice or try-outs on Monday, you must be signed up through our sports registration platform, FamilyID (also known as Arbiter Sports), and have a valid sports physical uploaded into your registration. Physicals are good for 2 years.  Once registered, you will receive an email from the Athletic office stating whether your registration is approved or not approved. For additional information on athletic clearance, please check the Athletic website www.grantathletics.com.

Grant High School names Sean Brownhill as its’ new Head Boys Basketball Coach

We are excited to announce the hiring of Sean Brownhill as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Grant High School. Sean is a Portland native, where he attended Benson and Franklin High School. Brownhill was a four year letter winner, two time all PIL selection, and a two time state tournament participant during his high school career.  At the collegiate level, he played a year at Yuba College before transferring to Portland State University where he was the Men’s Basketball Manager for two seasons. He graduated from Portland State with a Bachelor in Science in Communications in 2013. He also earned his Masters in Teaching from Concordia University, Portland in 2020 and is currently an elementary school Physical Education teacher in the Reynolds School District.
 
Brownhill started coaching as a varsity assistant at Benson High School in 2014 where he was on their staff until 2018. Sean then became the varsity assistant at Jefferson High School for three seasons where they finished second in 2018. He then returned to Benson as a varsity assistant in 2022.  
 
Sean and his family are excited to work within the Grant community and look forward to building on the rich tradition of Grant Boys Basketball while maintaining strong partnerships within the community, as well as developing hardworking student-athletes but also respectable young men to serve our community and world as outstanding citizens.
